PremiumCards.net Creates Custom Trading Cards for the Lucas Museum at San Diego Comic-Con

One of the most exciting custom trading card projects we’ve had the opportunity to produce was created in collaboration with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art for San Diego Comic-Con.

The Lucas Museum team approached PremiumCards.net to help produce a special collection of custom trading cards for the event. Working alongside the museum’s creative team, we helped transform artwork connected to the museum’s collection into modern, museum-quality physical collectibles.

Four Collectible Trading Card Designs

The project featured four unique trading card designs, showcasing artwork of some instantly recognizable cultural and cinematic figures:

• C-3PO from Star Wars
• Princess Leia
• Indiana Jones
• Frida Kahlo

The artwork featured on the cards is also represented within the Lucas Museum, giving the trading card collection a direct connection to the art and visual storytelling celebrated by the museum.

Rather than creating a traditional promotional handout, the goal was to produce something attendees would want to keep, collect, trade, and take home as a reminder of the experience.

From Museum Artwork to Premium Trading Cards

The creative direction and artwork were developed with the Lucas Museum creative team, while PremiumCards.net handled the specialized printing and production required to turn those designs into finished trading cards.

Every detail mattered. The cards needed to reproduce the artwork beautifully while also having the polished appearance and physical feel expected from a premium collectible.

The cards were also placed into customized foil trading card packs featuring professionally printed labels created specifically for the project.
